Deepsikha’s humane endeavour of providing care and support to cancer patients had started much earlier at Mumbai. Seeing the activities of Deepsikha and the dedication of the volunteers, an angel in human form, Shri Sawarnmal Sanganeria decided to prevail upon his relative, Iron Merchant and Philanthropist Shri Ratan Lal Didwania ji to give Deepsikha an extremely valuable property in the heart of Mumbai city. With proper planning and sincere efforts, the space allotted to Deepsikha which was initially a godown, was renovated and slowly the picture changed to that of brightness and hope. Many well wishers and friends of Deepsikha came out to support this noble endeavour in the form of donations. It was finally on 2nd October, 2008, the birthday of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Ratanlal Didwania Arogya Bhawan, An initiative of Deepsikha was inaugurated by eminent medical oncologist, Dr. Tapan Saikia . The doors were opened to many patients who needed a home away from home in Mumbai. The Bhawan accommodates cancer patients at a very nominal rate. Those patients who cannot afford to pay are kept free and are provided with all the logistic support to carry forward their treatment. There is also a canteen for the patients where food is served at a concessional rate. Patients from all over the country have been availing this facility and till date, a large number of patients have been accommodated so far.
We have four Arogya Bhawans in Navi Mumbai. Three are in Vashi and one is in Koparkhairane. These Arogya Bhawans are located in prime locations and well connected by public transport.
